For more than 50 years our client has been among the market leaders in the storage & material handling industry and is known as a reliable and innovative partner in planning and implementing complex storage and picking solutions. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a dynamic, self-motivated and enthusiastic Technical Sales Engineer to complement their established and highly successful team.
Reporting to the Sales Manager and covering the Southern region, the Technical Sales Engineer will be responsible for both growing and developing the area in line with agreed targets and forging and maintaining commercially attractive relationships with new and existing customers within the region. Tasked with proactively converting prospect clients into new and repeat business customers, you will also actively manage established regional key accounts and will provide design input, costing information and commercially viable quotations in line with bespoke customer requirements.
A skilled and effective influencer and communicator at all levels, you will regularly attend trade fairs and meetings with customers in order to ascertain requirements and deliver presentations on the solutions available, and carry out site and equipment surveys as required, so a full clean UK driving licence is essential for the position. You will also actively follow up direct and solutions enquiries and regularly contact customers to establish forthcoming pipeline requirements before updating the CRM system with prospect information and relevant customer profile data, adhering to a proven and structured sales process and following established pricing agreements in line with defined discounting authority.
Additionally, you will be charged with the identification and development of new customer markets and areas in which the company can expand its’ existing market activities and potentially diversify into other sectors on commercially viable projects, and be responsible for handling and progressing in bound enquiries to their natural conclusion.
This is very much a Solution Sales opportunity – and whilst other activities will include assisting in the generation of both new sales enquiries, providing input into concept design solutions in line with the customer requirements, preparing and presenting tender documentation to customers and liaising extensively with the internal design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning departments to ensure that contractual obligations are adhered to, and ensuring customer satisfaction at all times including after sales care and support, essentially you will be an experienced engineer capable of understanding complex bespoke customer requirements and with the support of the team, converting these into commercially viable solutions that will satisfy the customer’s needs. You will also be responsible for maintaining associated sales records and registers and or providing detailed sales performance statistics and forecasts to the management team when required.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HNC level or above in a mechanical engineering discipline and demonstrate at least 2 years’ previous experience gained within a technical solution sales environment.
