You will be responsible for understanding and assimilating the current IP and engineering development assets and will build a programme of works in collaboration with the Technical & Engineering Directors. Supporting a full lifecycle product development effort (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement), you will supervise and audit external engineering resources and work packages for the R&D programmes as well as designing systems and components that meet needs and requirements for formal 3rd party certification.

Able to produce outline designs and conduct experiments methodically, analysing data and interpreting results as required, you will test and evaluate theoretical designs (Identifying & formulating effective solutions to emerging problems) and conduct overall evaluation of prototypes & first articles performance, reliability and safety, altering and modifying designs to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions as required.

It is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 8 years mechanical engineering experience with safety critical motion based systems and structures and of working with finite element analysis (FEA), product certification and quality (R&M) maturation along with experience of working with 2D & 3D modelling & design tools (Solidworks, AutoCAD) and associated analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica, Excel, or similar). You will possess a good understanding of mathematical computing and analysis tools (eg : Matlab, LabView, etc) along with core concepts, including advanced mechanical systems, kinematics and materials science.

With your solid understanding of core concepts, including electrical systems and a wealth of creativity and analytical skills, exceptional communication skills including technical writing and authoring abilities, realistically you will be qualified to MEng in Electrical Engineering although a BEng will be considered.
