Ref: PTR16/653
Location: Brecon, mid Wales
Description: Experienced and self motivated CNC Machinist required for our established and highly successful MHE development client.
Salary: to c£30k + generous overtime and benefits
Our client has been established for almost half a century and specialise in the design, development and installation of a range of bespoke and modular automation and materials handling solutions for supply to food, pharmaceutical, distribution, recycling and baggage handling customers across the globe.
As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and highly self-motivated CNC Machinist to oversee the activities of a busy CNC machine shop, and to undertake the machining of a wide range of components including shafts, wheels and spring clips to drawing specification using CNC machines, as well as drilling, tapping and inserting to drawing specifications.
You will produce volume components within strict timescale constraints and achieve maximum usage of machine capabilities leaving a finished component requiring minimal manual finishing. You will prepare and maintain CNC machines to required specification and procedural guidelines and undertake a range of additional duties including tool setting, using CNC Lathes to produce steel shafts and CNC Milling machines to produce component parts to required quality standards, machine CNC holding fixtures and drill & tap to drawing specification whilst ensuring compliance at all times with relevant health and safety.
Utilising your own experience to provide guidance and to mentor apprentice machinists, you will champion continuous improvement activities across the business and encourage the implementation and sustainment of change across the machine shop.
For an initial 3 month period whilst a sister location is relocated to the South Wales site, the candidate will be expected to also work at the Bristol site until the site is encompassed within the South Wales operation. Expenses will be paid for this.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will ideally be qualified as a time served apprentice machinist and demonstrate at least 3 years previous CNC machine experience including part programming, tool set up and basic machine maintenance gained within an engineering environment. You will essentially be conversant with engineering drawings and possess comprehensive Turning and Milling machine experience, and be comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a team.
