Weld Shift Manager - West Midlands to £40k

Description: Experienced robotic welding engineer required to coordinate all aspects of a busy automotive manufacturing and production environment.

Salary: c£35k basic + £5k car allowance and benefits

Our client has been established for more than a decade, and specialise in the volume manufacture of highest quality automotive BIW components. As a result of continued success, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Weld Shift Manager to be based at their prestigious West Midlands facility.

Having attained at least an HND in a relevant engineering qualification, you will demonstrate previous department / shift leadership experience within a high pressure environment as well as skills in the planning and organisation of resources and workloads. You will additionally have proven technical experience of robotic welding systems and practical load balancing and the ability to utilise problem solving techniques and lean tools for continuous improvement applications. Knowledge of H&S legislation, SPC and quality tools and the ability to manage budgetary aspects of projects whilst coordinating team activities and developing and empowering individuals along the way are all critical aspects of this post, and the successful candidate will need to be methodical and organised with exceptional communication skills in order to successfully rise to the challenges of the opportunity.
Tasked with planning and managing all operational aspects, processes and resources to ensure on time within budget delivery, you will be highly self motivated and enthusiastic and able to motivate others around you, challenging ideas positively and constructively and able to effectively communicate and present to all levels when required.
Ideally from a similarly dynamic manufacturing environment, you will be fully conversant with H&S issues and legislation and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with PPE, COSHH and waste / energy management requirements, undertaking risk assessments and regular safety audits where appropriate. You will also fully understand and be able to communicate to the team the “Quality First” philosophy, adopting a right first time approach and managing the training matrix to ensure maximum versatility across all areas.
In addition to proven QCD experience and implementation, proven Kaizen and management experience in order to ensure continuous improvement and consistent delivery are essential to this position, and the successful candidate will drive the team to ensure production schedule expectations are achieved within maximum output, minimum waste and optimised cost at all times.
