Senior Buyer - (Projects) - Northampton to £50k plus benefits

As a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth, our client is seeking to recruit an extremely enthusiastic, dynamic and self motivated Senior Procurement professional to compliment their existing Projects team. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will be solely responsible for the management of the company Purchasing Operation covering the Projects Division.
 
You will ensure the efficient and profitable operation of the Projects Purchasing function, working closely with the Senior Projects Estimator to develop and implement a competitive supplier base and assisting in the development of contract conditions to reflect business requirements. Additionally you will both develop and implement effective KPI’s whilst closely maintaining and overseeing other functions of the business, and you will lead/manage supplier contract negotiations as well as Leading/taking part in the management of supplier performance, striving to improve and develop departmental systems and ensuring 100% on time in full (OTIF) project delivery for both external and internal customers/work package owners.
 
Responsible for an annual Purchasing Budget in excess of £7m, you will work closely with a range of business critical contacts and customers including Project Estimators, Proposals and design engineers, Sales/Accounts Managers, Project Managers and of course Suppliers, so exceptional communication skills are critical for success in this post, ideally gained within a similarly dynamic buying environment.
 
To be considered for this challenging and highly diverse post, you will demonstrate at least 5 years success in a similarly professional purchasing environment, as well as strong analytical and communication skills, IT literacy (including the use of ERP business systems) and proven Project Management / Capital Equipment procurement experience. Additionally you will possess strong contract negotiation skills, the ability to understand technical specification issues gained from an engineering background, and will be capable of adopting a flexible approach when alternating between high level strategic aspects of the position to low level parts ordering and expediting.
