Ref: PTR10/818
Location: Basildon, Essex
Description: Excellent opportunity for 2 mechanically biased design professionals to join an expanding and successful product development team committed to innovation and quality.
Salary: to £28k plus benefits
Our client has developed a totally new approach to washroom technology, combining the convenience of conventional hydraulic systems operation with the water saving and performance benefits of air assisted water flow and flushing. Following a 5 year R&D programme, prototype units have been through successful trials and have demonstrated 84% water saving and 80% energy saving, with very good levels of user acceptance.
As a result of advance commercial interest and a continued investment programme, they are now set to embark on advancing the technology into mass production and are seeking to recruit two dynamic, enthusiastic and highly self-motivated Product Design Development professionals to compliment their established team.
The successful candidates will be qualified in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, and will be able to demonstrate 5 years experience of product development and project management within a Design for Manufacture / Assembly environment. Due to the unique nature of the technology involved, the position will particularly suit engineers who have gained experience in other disciplines as part of the design process (such as electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering) and who thrive within a technically challenging hands on environment, are comfortable working autonomously or as part of a successful team.
You will possess a good understanding and working knowledge of the use of Solid Works (2D and 3D applications) and be responsible for taking the project from prototype through to manufacturing and project delivery stages, so experience of associated test and development, tooling, machine shop processes and plastic injection moulding as well as aesthetic product design will prove invaluable in this challenging role – performed in an environment committed to compliance with relevant CE marking and industry standards and directives and will also be able to work with and coordinate specialist consultant advisers.
In addition to the essential technical requirements for this position, it is imperative that the successful candidates are committed individuals and self-starters focused on “the bigger picture” and keen to progress their career. The position has good long term prospects, as the Company intends to develop further product incarnations as part of a continuous product development process within this global growth sector, so a flexible approach, exceptional communication skills and an all – round dynamic and enthusiastic approach are paramount.
This is an exceptional opportunity for suitably committed, dynamic and capable engineers with the relevant skills and experience detailed to join a professional and focussed organisation committed to quality and expansion, so if you wish to be considered for this exciting and challenging opportunity in the first instance send a copy of your cv to
