Electrical Field Projects Engineer - Northampton - to £38k+ car

Description: Electrical engineer with comprehensive control software and electrical hardware development and implementation skills required to compliment the activities of a successful and established professional team.

Salary: to £38k plus vehicle

Our client is renowned within their highly competitive market sector as genuine leaders in the field – and as a result of continued unparalleled success at a time where the competition are falling by the wayside, are now seeking to recruit a highly enthusiastic and committed electrical field projects engineer to compliment their existing team. Working in a department committed to modernisation and upgrades, the successful candidate will develop, implement and support both hardware and software solutions and provide a complete controls design service including both electrical and software design through to commission on a range of materials handling applications whilst ensuring on time, within budget satisfactory project delivery.

Core responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Designing, producing and testing materials handling systems control software
  • Delivering sales, estimating, design, installation, commissioning and project management of projects to agreed targets and company standards, rules and requirements and supporting the management team in achieving financial targets
  • Managing the development and maintenance of procedures and standards to be used across all projects and promoting a continuous improvement culture
  • Specifying and triggering procurement of equipment, products and services with appropriate departments
  • Designing and producing electrical layout and schematic drawings using CAD
  • Liaising with electrical installation supervisors and subcontractors
  • Producing material flow specifications and providing conveyor, materials handling and crane systems training to end users
  • Ensuring on time within budget project delivery and providing technical back up and support to the service team when required, necessitating devising bug fixes, enhancements and modifications
  • Providing a maintenance system that allows site PPM to be monitored and improved

 

To be considered for this exceptional opportunity, the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 5 years hands on experience gained within an automated warehouse and distribution centre environment with particular emphasis on electrical and controls engineering, and will have attained a minimum of an HND in a relevant engineering qualification.

Additionally, you will demonstrate proficiency in the use of CAD tools, a good understanding of electrical and electronic technical manuals and drawings and DCS systems, and proven skills in fault find and repair on S5 and S7 PLC systems, and will be flexible to undertake overnight stays when visiting customers out of area.

Are you credible with customers, able to work under pressure and yet commercially capable whilst maintaining a Customer focussed approach to projects? Are you conversant with AutoCAD, SAP, Word, Excel, Project and Outlook as well as control designs and solutions and able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and be a team player? Are you comfortable in working unsupervised, at height and in occasional freezer conditions?
