Salary:to £30k plus bonus

Our client is the world leader in a niche and highly specialised protection systems environment allied to Seawater applications, having installed their product on thousands of vessels including container carriers, cruise ships, off shore structures and luxury yachts, and as a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly capable Design Engineer to compliment the companies design, development, engineering and manufacturing service offering and to design, develop and engineer existing and new products to agreed timelines and costs that meet specifications and can be manufactured profitably.
To be considered for this highly challenging and rewarding opportunity, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:
  • Provide leadership in design and development, resulting in new or improved products and processes.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge and market appreciation within the specific business areas.
  • Design, development and engineering of products from concept to final solution and for existing product modifications utilising SolidWorks, and ensure that solutions meet performance specifications and can be delivered to agreed timescales and budgets.
  • Produce cost effective designs in response to product definition and ensure that the design is correctly transformed into engineering drawings to be used for tooling, manufacture and quality control.
  • Formulate technical specifications and test procedures based on performance requirements, competitor analysis and global standards.
  • Ensure that the company’s products are protected by appropriate Intellectual Property Rights
  • Ensure that all new products are designed and optimized for manufacture, that process validations are fully complete and that all related product documentation isin place prior to manufacturing start up and product launch.
  • Develop and maintain the document management system including the storage of technical documentation, specifications and standards.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with other interfacing departments, initiating and attending design reviews, progress meetings, and product development reviews.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with industry influencers, key customers, strategic partners, suppliers and external agencies and apply the knowledge from these relationships into the design, development and engineering activities.
 
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 5 years experience gained in a design / technical production environment role with extensive SolidWorks modelling skills, and a sound manufacturing and materials background gained through design role(s) within a low volume product manufacturing environment (machining, fabrication, welding) alongwith a Proven track record in delivering results.
