Quality Control Specialist - Swindon - to £22k

Description:  Enthusiastic and self motivated quality engineering professional required to undertake a range of calibration and measurement actitivies within a busy automotive manufacturing environment.

Salary: to £22k

Our client, a leading automotive component manufacturing organisation based in Swindon, is seeking to recruit a highly articulate and enthusiastic Quality Control Specialist to be based within an established team of engineering professionals undertaking a range of measurement and calibration methods in accordance with stringent company processes.

Reporting to the Quality Control Assistant Section Manager, the successful candidate will have previously undertaken formal training on measurement systems and will ideally demonstrate knowledge of Cam2 & GD&T measurement and an awareness of 8D and associated problem solving tools. You will be computer literate in Microsoft packages and have achieved at least an HNC or above in a relevant engineering discipline, and will demonstrate excellent communication, planning and time management skills and the ability to present findings to the senior management team and customers respectively.
 
Other duties will include (but not be limited to):
 
·         Performing appropriate measurement methods in line with company requirements
·        Supporting the manufacturing process with best practice measurement processes in line with Dimensional Management requirements
·         Carrying out equipment calibrations in line with company processes and supporting the management of the calibration system
·         Ensuring that company quality measurement equipment is appropriately specified as per business requirements inclusive of gauges, direct measurement equipment, fixtures etc
·         Determining effectiveness of measuring equipment (complete MSA process, measuring point selection, Gauge R&R etc)
·         Instigating containment process when required
·         Contributing data to reports including performance, SPC, and raising any quality issues to Management/Quality Engineers as they arise
·         Contributing to problem solving process (utilizing 8D, 5Why's process etc) working with multi-disciplinary teams
-    Promoting and adhering to relevant company systems and procedures (TS 16949/ISO 4001/OHSAS 18001) and support audits
