Our client is renowned as a market leader in the supply of engineering solutions allied to the Nuclear sector, and as a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit an experienced Operations Site Manager to coordinate the activities of the existing team.
 
To be considered for this challenging role, you will essentially demonstrate a good track record of managing operational activities, particularly in the field of site management in a nuclear/power generation environment, alongwith strong business acumen and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will possess the ability to manage and motivate large multi discipline teams of craft personnel and be experience in overseeing all aspects of planning, budgets, EHS&Q, recruitment of labour (staff and agency) and interfacing with the customer’s site team and any partner team and/or sub-contractors.
 
It is therefore essential that the successful candidate possesses excellent leadership skills and able to develop strong rapport with customers on all matters relating to operational performance including commercial, technical, safety and quality, as well as the ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate work under demanding timescales and within budgetary constraints. An understanding of modern management tools and best practice methodologies and their application will prove to be distinctly advantageous, as will a strong focus on safety and quality, good level of PC literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to produce reports to a high standard and with a high level of accuracy.
 
Additionally, it would be advantageous if the successful candidate has experience gained within a nuclear site environment or experience and knowledge of the power generation environment, in addition to having passed a radiological medical, Holding a valid driving license and car insurance and being able to secure and maintain security clearance for working on UK nuclear sites are also essential requirements for the position, and the successful candidate must have achieved a relevant engineering discipline to at least HNC level (degree preferable) and have an appropriate level of management training.
 
Reporting to the Dounreay Site Agent, you will be tasked with formulating and co-ordinating the site activities and programme, advising the Construction and Site Services (CSS) Director on operational, technical and safety matters and any development and supporting the CSS Director in ensuring the achievement of business targets and in the delivery of the business plan objectives as well as any other development initiatives as required. Liaising with personnel both internal and external to the company to ensure that the requirements of all parties are co-ordinated in the most safe, secure and cost-effective manner, you will also vigorously ensure conformance to all applicable local plant, state and country legislation and company procedures, leading and managing the work of Site Engineers / Supervisors / Technicians associated with mechanical and electrical site activities and ensuring that they provide a customer focussed, prompt and efficient service at all times.
 
As Operations Site Manager, you will ensure that appropriate performance measures/objectives/personal development plans are in place for all team members and that individuals and the team meet agreed targets within set time-scales, and will act as the focal point for escalation of any team/customer queries that cannot be dealt with through the normal process, and your success in the role will be measure by adherence to policies and processes, provision of relevant and timely information, effective budgetary control and management and ultimately a reduction in the number of safety accidents/incidents and a similar reduction in scheduled site programme.
