Ref #: PTR08/442 Location: Hampshire Description: Exceptional opportunity for an experienced engineer to progress to a technical support management position within a global supply organisation Salary: to £42k Our established client is the leading manufacturer of highest quality water purifying and dispensing systems for supply across 40 countries globally, and as a result of conintued success and reaching the next stage of their planned strategic growth campaign, are now seeking to recruit a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly self motivated Group Technical Manager to oversee the activities of a busy technical department and customer support team.
This role is ideally suited to a committed, technically capable engineer seeking their next progressive step to management, potentially from a hands on engineering background and ideally with an appreciation of electromechanical engineering.
Reporting directly to the China based General Manager, and offering genuine scope to travel throughout the USA, China and Europe in ensuring the highest quality solutions and support are provided to customers worldwide, the role demands that the successful candidate manage the company’s UK technical department and support staff effectively to meet their customer expectations of service. This will include providing technical support by phone, fax, e-mail or in person as well as delivering technical training to both internal and external customers respectively.
Additionally you will oversee and administer product testing so that the correct and up to date certification is not only achieved but also maintained. Other responsibilities will include overseeing the upkeep of ISO trading systems and ensuring the technical library is kept up to date and information freely available, raising technical bulletins with senior support engineers and overseeing and managing all warranty and non-conformance claims, providing cost reports and maintaining the non-conformance register on a regular basis and recording accordingly.
As the organisation are committed to customer satisfaction, you will be responsible for ensuring that customer surveys are both undertaken and results acted upon, and you will also be required to contribute to product development and feed back from field service teams on issues that affect new machines, being responsible for field trials of new products and undertaking competitor analysis on files and machine test reports respectively.
Finally, you will be responsible for all aspects of research of new technologies and new competitors, utilising fully the company’s dedicated test facility and generating subsequent test reports for products whilst liaising with both the Group Technical Engineer and the Technical Project Coordinator.
To be successful in this position, you will have demonstrable man management experience – an “international” mindset and the communication skills required to liaise politely and effectively with overseas customers - and ideally a background or experience gained within perhaps the refrigeration, water cooler or vending machine sector, perhaps from an installation or service background although service and support management experience gained within other environments will be favourably considered.
