Our client is a highly successful and established organisation specialising in the Controls and Automation sector, and as a result of continued success and a planned program of strategic growth and diversification, are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, self motivated, highest calibre Electrical Design Manager to coordinate the activities of an established and successful team. Reporting directly to the Group Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the activities and development of the Electrical Design team tasked with undertaking a range of Control Panel design activities, managing the dedicated panel manufacturing facility and empowering and developing team members to ensure the controlled stable growth of the department as well as having full P&L responsibility of the division.
Due to the extensive liaison undertaken with customers, sub-contractors and other internal divisions, it is essential that you demonstrate exceptional communication and project management skills, as well as the ability to ensure the smooth & profitable operation of the Hardware Design Division, aligned with the divisions planned P&L and objectives, and providing all hardware design requirements for the division whilst working closely with the panel manufacturing and systems departments, as well as maintaining full awareness of the market place in terms of both competitor and customer capabilities and requirements.
Aside from the electrical design responsibilities, due to the seniority of the role and the aim of identifying a strong “all round” engineering professional, the successful candidate will additionally demonstrate strengths and experience in other key areas to the business that will include Production Management and the identification and implementation of KPI’s, Planning and Scheduling, Customer Service responsibilities, Financial ownership of the division as well as training, Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Sales and Marketing in the form of tender preparation and the maximising of opportunities from existing clients as well as new ones.

To be considered therefore, you will demonstrate at least 5 years experience gained in a similarly electrically biased environment and possess skills and comprehensive knowledge of Safety Circuit Design, SIL / Risk Assessments, ATEX / Intrinsically Safe Systems, the fundamentals of Pneumatic Design and AutoCAD, as well as being able to show success and proficiency in Estimating and generating Quotations, Electrical Design, including Electrical Schematics, Control Panel GA’s, Cable Block Diagrams, Cable / Termination Schedules, Bill of Materials, undertaking On-site Panel Surveys and the Production of associated Contract Documentation Packages, and experience of On-site commissioning and Instrument Calibration activities to appropriate quality standards.
