Ref: PTR08/402 Location: West Midlands Description: Mechanically biased tender and proposals professional required to devise business winning bid documentation Salary:to £40k plus benefits Our client is renowned globally as the market leader in materials handling allied to the hazardous materials sector, providing bespoke solutions from concept design through to manufacture and simulated operation prior to delivery, installation and commissioning within customers' facilities worldwide. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Tendering Engineer to concentrate on all aspects of Mechanical Engineering as part of a successful and committed business development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the controlled implementation and co-ordination of mechanical engineering tasks associated with the timely submission of winning tenders, reporting directly to the Tendering Co-ordination Manager and supporting all relevant tendering activities across all areas of the Business. You will undertake the management & administration of mechanical engineering estimates, statements of works and scope to tender preparation process to BP2.1 whilst providing support to the Bid preparation programme, producing Tender documentation including engineering commentaries, risk registers, assumptions, exclusions and opportunities and ensuring that the Gated Process controls are carried out and documented.
Additionally, you will ensure the completion of contract deliverables in association with all Tender team members and produce detailed estimates for winning tender submission, undertaking Production of Risks, exclusions & assumptions registers and extensive liaison with the Client throughout the tender period as required, establishing the Scope of Work and associated Work Breakdown Structure and agreeing “make / buy” decisions with the appropriate Functional Manager.
You will be able to determine overall requirements in terms of cost, time, resource and technical content of mechanical design activities and design and formulate plans which satisfy these requirements, and in order to be considered for this position, you will possess comprehensive experience of producing mechanical engineering estimates and engineering commentaries and a detailed knowledge of engineering applications, ideally relative to the Nuclear and Industrial applications. You will be responsible for determining overall requirements in terms of cost, time, resource and technical content of mechanical design activities and for the design and formulation of plans which satisfy these requirements. You will demonstrate the ability to review mechanical design tasks, particularly the design and analysis of mechanisms and mechanical plant, within time, cost and quality requirements and also the ability to understand a variety of contractual requirements, client specifications and technical requirements and ensure that the key issues are adequately catered for in the bid, ensuring adherence to tender preparation process in accordance with BP 2.1.
Finally, you will undertake effective liaison with key suppliers to ensure best value is obtained and utilise your presentation skills to ensure submission of a compliant tender and an attractive tender document, recognising improvements in existing processes and demonstrating the confidence to implement changes as required.
